I'm a teacher and have been off all week, but we wanted to start preparing Ziggy for time in the crate when we have to leave. With the enticing scent of peanut butter, we were able to get two feet in today. Woohoo! Although Ziggy is a little prancing pup in the yard and a snuggle friend on the couch, he does look a bit anxious at times. Three things that have been helping him learn that things like cages aren't as scary are: 1) having a confident dog like Jackie to watch 2) lots of positive reinforcement with treats 3) lots of patience- we know on Christmas Eve we need to leave the house for a short time, so we'll build him up to getting all of the way in the crate over the next few days. |
