Ziggy is such a floofy boy. When I first introduced the brush about a week ago, he would scurry to the other room. Over time, when he wasn't looking toward me, I would start to pet him with one hand for one stroke, then get in a brush stroke with the other hand. I'd keep this alternating pattern while he wasn't looking to try to get some brushing in. He seemed to enjoy this, but when he turned his head and saw the brush, he would stand up and get away.
I just slowly repeated this process over the week, never holding him down or forcing him, and finally today he let me brush him while he watched. He saw the brush touching him and let me brush away. Success!
Ziggy will trust you, he just needs patience and to know he is safe. He will reward your efforts with sweet kisses and affection. He really is just a big 'ol sweet baby. Not a mean bone in this body.
