Ruger has been with us a little over a week now, and this is what we have learned:
- He is a little spitfire. So fiesty, playful, and curious.
- As of a few days ago was already weighing about 23 pounds.
- He has been teething. Within this past week, he has new bottom and top teeth sprouting up.
- He does pretty well in the crate at night and when we leave. He can be a little vocal when we first leave him in there, but he calms down after a few minutes.
- He is VERY food motivated. When we are cooking or eating a meal at the table, he has his nose in the air, sniffing at what we are making.
- He knows how to sit.
- He LOVES playing outside. Be ready to pull leaves, grass, sticks, etc... out of his curious little mouth. To distract him from eating things he shouldn't in the yard, we sometimes will give him ice cubes of chew toys for outside.
- He is making progress with potty training, but still has some accidents.
- He likes walks. When he sees/ hears another dog, he sometimes freezes before proceeding. Not sure if he is nervous, scared, curious, or just assessing the situation.
- He is eating about 2 cups of food a day spread over about 3 meals.
- He likes to watch television.
- He seems to enjoy the water. In our little kiddie pool, he will just sit in it.
- He likes to jump on the couch and pounce on his brother as he walks by. So sassy and silly.
- He likes our dog, but sometimes needs reminders to respect her space is she is feeling annoyed.
- He likes to steal shoes.
- He is a powerful chewer. Some of the softer, teething type toys, he is able to break some pieces off of.
