We went for a walk this morning. Buddy was less startled today with neighborhood noises. He gave an extra big pull when he saw a bunny (we have a lot of bunnies in St. Clair Shores). I have tried walking him with his collar and with a harness. I think I am able to control him a bit better with his collar. Buddy waited nicely for his breakfast. This pup is so silly. He eats his meals while laying down! He did it last night at dinner too but I thought maybe this was a fluke. Nope, this is a silly little quirk I've never seen in a dog before. He took time eating his food- taking a few bites, looking around, walking over to see me for a pet, then returning to his food, taking a few more bites, and so on. I bet if we just left the food bowl out all day, he would just graze and be fine. Unfortunately, our dog is like a vacuum an inhales his food at record speeds, so we can't leave Buddy's bowl out all day. We tried to make Milo give Buddy some space while he finished eating, but a few times Milo dove in to try to sneak a bite and Buddy showed zero agression. I don't think there is a mean bone in this dog's body! Buddy loves looking out the front door. He'll sometimes sit or lay down in front of it, basking in the sunlight. Today he is a bit more vocal, letting out a quick bark or whine if certain people pass by (especially if they have dogs) or if he hears a dog bark in the distance. Yet today when the mail man came to the door- not a peep. Overall, he is a fairly quiet pup. If you are looking for a loud, ferocious guard dog, I don't think Buddy is your guy. Buddy already seems so much more relaxed! There has been a lot more napping today. For anyone interested in adopting Buddy, I suggest giving him a good 24 hours to "settle in" and get a feel for what this dude is all about. He was a good boy yesterday but noticeably had more energy. With a few good walks and some fresh air, we are already noticing how much calmer and content he is day two. Below are some videos of him just hanging out in the backyard and getting some treats :) Please pass the word around about Buddy. Let's find him a good home soon! |
As I discovered yesterday, Buddy is a BIG fan of belly rubs! See right for a slideshow of this dog in belly rub heaven!!! If he is laying down and I go to pet him, he immediately rolls over- tummy side up. I think this is the quickest way to this boy's heart! | |
